Virginia Rae Baker
April 6, 1937 - June 6, 2025
Virginia Baker was born in Flint, Michigan, as Virginia Nold on April 6, 1937, and passed away on June 6, 2025, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. She was known as Ginny by her friends. She was a kind person and generous to a fault. Was married to Thomas Baker of Indianapolis, Indiana and later divorced. They had 4 children: David, Linda, Lisa and Danny (who preceded her in death as a young adult). She had 9 grandchildren: Ashleigh, Steven, Kevin, Jennifer, Christopher, Holly, Angela, Clark, and Kirk. She had several great-grandchildren as well. She had a long career as an X-ray technician. In retirement, she moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, following her heart to be with Doug Muto. Her many hobbies included gardening, canoeing, dancing, playing the piano, and writing poetry. She belonged to the Hoosier Canoe Club, and the Continental Dance team, with whom she participated in many performances and competitions. She loved singing in the church choir all of her life while attending Coronado Community United Methodist Church and the New Smyrna Beach United Church of Christ in New Smyrna Beach, as well as the Southport United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life for Ginny at Coronado Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach from 2-4 pm on July 19th, with an additional gathering later in July in Indianapolis.
