Susie Ray Clifton passed away peacefully on the evening of October 5, 2024, with the love of her family surrounding her.

Susie Clifton was the first of twelve born to Ethel Herring on April 23, 1931, in Romeo, Florida. She attended Romeo County Schools. February 16, 1947, she was joined in marriage to the late James Clifton of Daytona Beach, Florida. To that union, four children were born: Diana, James, Rizell (deceased), Lavelda, and Helen (deceased).

Susie was a faithful member of Hope Fellowship Church. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, offering wisdom, and creating a home filled with warmth and laughter.

For over 48 years she worked as a caretaker for a private home. In her spare time, she loved to read, crossword puzzles, and gardening.

She is survived by two daughters: Diana Bell and Lavelda Clifton; grandchildren: Cicely Jackson (James F. Jackson Sr.), Joy Bell-Giles (Knowledge Giles), William Clifton, Farrah Clifton, Tadia Clifton, Deidre Garvin, Alicia Garvin, and Joyce Garvin; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and other family members who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
