Richard Lee Fryson
July 21, 1936 - April 7, 2024
Mr. Fryson, the son of DeWitt and Ethel L. Watkins Fryson, was born July 21, 1936, in Idamay, WV. As a young man he moved to Pittsburgh, PA and on April 4, 1959, he married Lucy Mae Coleman. Mr. Fryson later moved his family to Youngstown, OH. There he painted houses and became an entrepreneur and also owned a lounge. He retired from the Lordstown branch of General Motors Corp as a maintenance technician.
Moved to South Daytona, FL with his wife Lucy in 2021 to finish out that retirement with their loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Fryson enjoyed working on cars, painting, traveling and fishing. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved westerns. He loved spending time with his family. He never missed our annual family reunions, or his annual trips to Florida.
Richard will be forever missed by his wife, Lucy; his sisters, Helen Ray and Virginia Miles, both of Pennsylvania; his children, son Richard Michael Fryson, Jr. and daughters, Carla Sol (Eddie) of Daytona Beach, FL and Candace Fryson of Youngstown, OH his cherished grandchildren, Kellee (Kenton) Rickerson, Christopher Williams, and Alazia Hobard. Cherished great grandchildren Daz’ia Johnson (Cornell), Kenton Rickerson, Jr., and Kayden Rickerson and a host of additional relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, DeWhitt, Jr., Stonewall and Aaron Fryson; six sisters, Marguerite, Carrie and Mildred Fryson, Josephine Jones, Mary Turner and Ethel Henderson; grandson Henry P. Williams, III.
Calling hours will be held at J. E. Washington Funeral Services, Inc., 2234 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, OH, on Friday, April 19, from 11am to 12pm and service from 12pm to 1:30pm. Repast immediately after.
