Marshall "Payne" Penn
June 4, 1932 - May 19, 2026
Mr. Marshall "Payne" Penn, 93, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Although his passing was unexpected, we trust in God’s perfect will and take comfort in knowing that Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Mr. Penn lived a life marked by faith, wisdom, kindness, and quiet strength. His presence was a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
Marshall “Payne” Penn was born on June 4, 1932, in Ruffin, South Carolina, to the late Mannie and Nellie Mae Payne. He attended Ruffin High School before later relocating to Daytona Beach, Florida, where he built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.
From a young age, Marshall possessed a remarkable talent for working on automobiles, especially in paint and auto body repair. His dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic led him to establish his own business, Marshall and Son’s Paint and Auto Body, where he faithfully served the community for more than 40 years. Through his work, he earned the respect and admiration of many whose lives he touched along the way.
Marshall was a devoted man of faith who loved the Lord wholeheartedly. He worshipped faithfully at Butts Temple Church of God in Christ and later at Living Faith World Ministries, where he remained committed to his spiritual walk for many years. His life reflected kindness, wisdom, perseverance, and unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mannie and Nellie Mae Payne; his wife, Louise Payne; two sons, Marshall Payne Jr. and Thomas Payne; one daughter, Lizzie Payne; along with five brothers and two sisters.
Marshall leaves to cherish his precious memories his present wife, Mary Ann Penn; one daughter, Letha Mae Payne of Daytona Beach, Florida; and one son, Roy Payne of Savannah, Georgia.
He also leaves behind grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Ron Washington, Celeste Felder (Eric), Zack Braswell, Dionne Ivory, Monica Curry, and Davine Stallings, all of Daytona Beach, Florida, whom he raised; Terri Rash (Danny) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jamie Payne (Donna), Shandrea Terrell, and Shartara Strickland (Benjamin), all of Atlanta, Georgia; Dominique Payne of Jacksonville, Florida; and Juwana Payne and RJ Payne of Savannah, Georgia.
Marshall’s legacy continues through his 47 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by four sisters: Ann Willis and Hermenia Austin, both of Boston, Massachusetts; Evelyn Payne and Liz Royster (Frank), both of North Carolina; three sisters-in-law: Sarah Pinckney, Everlina Kennedy, and Betty Ann Lowe, all of Daytona Beach, Florida; a devoted nephew, Dewayne Payne of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two beloved goddaughters, Rhonda Davis and Kimberly Bohannon of Daytona Beach, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
