Marian R. Davis
November 17, 1951 - August 21, 2024
Marian R. Davis of Daytona Beach, Florida transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Marian R. Davis was the third of eight children born to Irene and Willie Register, Sr. of Fernandina Beach, Florida. Surviving brothers and sisters include Marvin (Shelia), Markquietta, Iris, Richard (Jenny), Cynthia (Leon), and Adrian. Her parents and one brother, Willie Register, Jr. have already transitioned to their heavenly home.
Throughout her journey in life, Marian experienced a host of FIRSTS in her lifetime. When she lost her first tooth, she had a sleepless night, anxiously awaiting the tooth fairy. The next morning, the gift under her pillow brought indescribable joy to her. On the first day of school, she was so excited to ride the school bus and join her older sister and brother. As a teenager, she obtained her first driver's license and later was presented with her first car. She became the first minority administrative employee at the Nassau County Courthouse in her hometown during integration in the 1960's.
Marian matriculated at Historic Peck High School until she elected to transfer to Fernandina Beach High School to further her high school education. She was a member of the first integrated graduating class of 1969.
An active member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Marian accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and served faithfully in the choir. Shortly after her high school graduation, she married and relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida. She started her family that blossomed and grew into 3 generations: Chauntinella Davis, daughter; Alexandria Bettis and Ataya Johnson, granddaughters; and Camilla Davis and Riley Williams, great-granddaughters. As a doting mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marian extended her unwavering love and enriched their lives unselfishly. So much so that Ross Stores, Inc. awarded her a Lifetime Preferred Shoppers card.
Rezellia, as she was affectionately known to her immediate family, identified FAMILY as the focal point of her life and she devoted 100% of her tenacious energy in to delivering unconditional love to her siblings and offspring. No family gathering was complete without her macaroni and cheese.
Prior to relocating to Daytona Beach, Marian was employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Jacksonville, Florida. While residing in Daytona, she continued her career with General Electric Corporation, later becoming Lockheed-Martin, as a Contract Specialist for more than 30 years. Marian provided administrative services to Bethune Cookman College in the Registrar's Office. In this role, she became an ambassador to incoming freshmen students and often used her maternal instincts by supplying meal vouchers to those students who were far away from home with no support system. She was fondly known as "Momma D".
In the prime of her life, Marian continued to enjoy FIRSTS: first family reunion; first girl's trip; first cruise; and first attendance at Seabreeze Jazz Festival which became an annual event for many years.
A woman of unshakeable Christian faith, Marian had no doubts about her ultimate destination and knew we would all come together again one day. Next stop on her journey - Heaven.
