October 16, 1944 - October 7, 2024

Eugene Leon Dean Jr., 79, of Daytona Beach, Florida answered the Lord's call on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Eugene Leon Dean Jr. was born on October 16, 1944, in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Eugene Leon Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Dean. He attended Pinellas County Public Schools and graduated from Gibbs High School.

Eugene affectionately called Dean by family and friends, joined the United States Army in March of 1963. After serving two years on active duty, he relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida and attended Daytona Beach Community College now Daytona State College, for Air Conditioner Technician. Upon earning his certification Dean began working at Bethune Cookman College now Bethune Cookman University as an Air Conditioner Technician along with other maintenance jobs for 40 plus years. Dean was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Usher’s Board.

Deam was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Leon and Lillie Mae Dean, a brother Carl Dean and a sister Sandra Dean.

Dean is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Joann Dean; children: David Street (Virginia), Teresa Shropshire and Marki Coleman (Nikkeya); brother Charles Dean; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 1 great-great-grandson; a sister-in-law Margaret Williams; brothers-in-law: Johnny Williams (Liz), and Bobby Williams (Carolyn) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
