Deacon Andrew Blake
September 15, 1931 - February 24, 2024
Andrew Blake was born on September 15, 1931, in Woodbine, Georgia to the late Goram and the late Sally Dallas Blake. At the age of eleven Andrew relocated with family to Daytona Beach, Florida. He attended Volusia County Public Schools. Andrew married Ledessa Smith, the love of his life, and to this union nine children were born.
Andrew had a rewarding career in various fields to include Construction, Custodial Work, seven years with Hamptons Fried Chicken Restaurant, and twenty-five years with Daytona Beach Housing Authority. Andrew was a dedicated member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, Florida, where he served on the Deacon’s Board. He enjoyed watching Wrestling, Boxing, listening to “Old Blues”, hanging with the fellas under the tree talking sports. He was a “Die-Hard” Bethune Cookman University Football Fan, attending all practices and games. “GO WILDCATS!”
He was preceded in death by his wife Ledessa Blake; daughter Vimel Blake, and son Allen Blake.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memory six sons: Andrew Blake (Laura), John Ali (Mayriest), Anthony Blake, (Margaret), Marvin Blake, Gregory Blake, and Calvin Blake; one daughter Vanita Johnson (Willie); 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
